It was great fun to visit my friends Maxwell Truth, Bird, and Zelda on
Offbeat Cinema yesterday. Cool new set, cool new home for the show. Apparently the show with me as guest star airs on Saturday, Jan. 26....
The band is starting plans for a new CD - hopefully in 2013!
We are currently out of stock of some titles - Retrodyne and Me and Miss Grimes. We will get more copies pressed, but only after our budget allows! Meantime you can always download via iTunes and CDBaby.
I hope you are all doing great!!!!

Alison Pipitone - Me and Miss Grimes - |
CD Review - By Bob Silvestri bobsilvestri@bestofwny.com
Alison Pipitone is the high priestess of the local rock scene. She has set the standard with her live performances, her ample recording oeuvre and as the winner of numerous Buffalo Music Awards and other recognitions. If we gave out local Grammy's she would have a mantle full. She is an in demand talent who has made numerous guest appearances on other artist CD's as well. She has consistently released outstanding recordings including her latest effort Me and Miss Grimes. Her ace band consisting of Natalie Howes, Graham Howes, Ben Clarke, Sheila Conners, drummer extraordinaire Patrick Shaughnessy and Buffalo Music Hall of Fame member (Class of 2006) Jim Whitford add mightily to the recording. Highlights among the ten cuts include "Hello Is Not The Word", the feisty rocker "Crocodile Tears", "Roller Derby Queen", the gently strummed sound of "The Walls Don't Talk" and "Some" another classic Pipitone rocker. Keep rocking Alison you are indeed a local treasure! Check out www.alisonpipitone.com for more information including upcoming shows and how to purchase her latest release Me and Miss Grimes. |

I don't know what I like more about Alison Pipitone: her effortless ability to rock out on stage, or the beautiful, amazing, angst-ridden lyrics she confesses to her fans and onlookers.
Fortunately, I don't have to pick. It's a package deal, and a wonderful package at that.
Pipitone just gets it. She knows how to grab a crowd's attention; with her guitar - standing, sliding, strutting and strumming - she stands out as the center of the universe. And yet, when she opens her mouth, her words make her a truly relatable performer.
She's not just entertaining, but poignant and relevant. Love, loss, loneliness: Pipitone understands human nature so well, you'd swear Dr. Phil was penning her songs.
It's a rare gift, indeed. And yet one that doesn't garner the attention it should.
To the shame of the music business, Pipitone is not a national artist. Sure, she's played some impressive gigs and opened for some great music legends. But, she's not as well known outside of Buffalo as so many lesser-qualified artists - and you know who you are, Top 40.
Whether Pipitone ever achieves fame and fortune ... I dare say she doesn't care. At this point in her life, she seems content creating incredible songs and performing them for the people of her hometown.
Her current album, "Me and Miss Grimes," is filled with delightfully up-tempo, heart-wrenching numbers that you'll love dancing to (as you cut that "special someone" out of all your pictures).
In the pantheon of great things about Western New York - Niagara Falls, chicken wings, Mighty Taco, neighborly kindness - Pipitone is right up there. That the world doesn't know that yet is to our advantage.
Music has become this region's pastime. On any given night, you'll find your friends, neighbors and co-workers lining smoky clubs or sitting under the stars while camped out on the lawn at Artpark, the Square or Darien Lake.
Without Pipitone, that local concert experience just wouldn't be the same. So, while I'm rooting for her to find new and higher levels of success, I'm secretly hoping she sticks around town just a little bit longer.
We might not have an indoor pool, a barbecue, a solarium, an aquarium, or a petting zoo. But, we do have jokes, some beer, a radio and imagination ... and we adore Pipitone.
Alison Pipitone opens for the Willie Nile Band at Artpark on Wednesday, Aug. 11, as part of the "Coors Light Wednesdays@Artpark" concert series.

Well, guys and gals, we are back online....thanks to www.nSytes.com and Sue for the great work. I will be posting a blog every week or so and let you all know what" s going on. Saturday night we played at the Buffalo Convention Center for the Patty Parete fundraiser. For those of you who don"t know, she is a Buffalo police officer who was shot in the line of the duty in December 2006. She is in a rehab center in New Jersey, and we are keeping her in our thoughts and prayers. The event was beyond amazing; so much good energy; great and good people; plenty of food and beer beer beer. The Alison Pipitone Band just finished up our 6 month Friday night Happy Hour stint at the Sportsmen"s Tavern; so many friends and honkey tonk times this year! Thanks for that! I"m gonna start working on our summer schedule, so keep your eyes peeled (or is that pealed?) Peeled eyes sounds very painful. Any suggestions of where you"d like us to play this summer let me know - or email our booking address. Apparently you"re gonna be able to answer these blogs. Here"s a question for you all: what is easier to live without: beer or cheese? And what kind in particular is your favorite of each or both? Later alligators.
Your faithful rock and roll star,
Alison Pipitone
